R.I.P. Captain Beefheart...

Unfortunately Don Van Vliet aka Captain Beefheart died today...

It's really sad for me because he was one of my favourite musicians. Another great artist has left the stage.

We will miss you, Captain...

Session w/ Bence Majorcki

Sorry for posting so rarely, but college life is so busy.

So, today I met my friend, Bence and we decided to make a video. I was the editor and the cameraman - I used a homemade fisheye and a simple digital camera. This is my first attempt using a fisheye, so sorry about the quality.

Bence is a great player. He's been on 3YO3 for a while and he has a really great style!

The video was taken at the IBS Campus.

Kitty String Review by Dávid Fehér

Dávid Fehér, one of my yoyoer friends dropped me with this review, to post it on the blog. Well, here it goes!

String Review – Kitty String (x100)

Well, I haven’t seen soo much string reviews, so I decided to write one by myself..Where shall I start… Really hard to say something about strings, because you just feel them, but you don’t know how to say it in words.

So, I got my x100 pack of the Baby Pink Kitty String, straight from Euro-Yo, so I have the chance to test it in longer run.

Well, I start woth the first impressions, as always:
I got the pack with the old packageing, but you may know that Kitty String now has a new packageing, it’s also a stricker, what is (in my opinion) a very good idea! But hey, who cares about the package, you play with the string, not with the package. So I didn’t mind that I get the „old” packageing.
The colourway is very shiny, bright, and awesome. I really love this colour, but later I will say something more about it.

After unpacking our new string, let’s put it into the yoyo.

I have to mention, that you get you string „unknotted”. So,m you have the cance to knot it as you want, and as long as you want and so on. I liked it, don’t know what you think, but for me it was good point.
Ont he first throw it made it’s job. Feels very fell ont he hand, doesn’t hurt you fingers, holds the loops/whips/suicides ver ywell, as it should. (Type 10 ftw!) So, no chance to disappointment.

Of course, nothing can be perfect.
As I said, I want to say something about the colour. I know, that after some time every string loses from it’s colour, but I realised that Kitty String maybe makes it a little faster. I’m no tan intensive player, and after about 6-7 hours of playing, it looses the awesome shine what it had at the begining.
Ont he other hand, it’s maintance is quite good, but not the best.

All in all. No disappointment, I have just positive experiences with it. As I said, holds everything perfectly, as it should, I had only problem with the colour loosing, but again, who cares about the colour…
All respects goes to Hiro for doing this job for us, and I have to say that he does a very good job with this string. I will galdly use it until I run out of them. (After it I’ll order more :$)

I hope I helped with this reviewish thing.

New logo

Here is a new logo I created for the blog. It will appear in my videos, and I'm gonna print some stickers and sidecap design, too.

YoyoFactory x Turning Point Chaotic

First of all, I gotta tell you that I rarely use metal yoyos (maybe I told this previously), I mainly throw plastics. But, of course, there are always exceptions. So, let's check this metal beauty that was made by YoyoFactory and Turning Point.

Weight (g)
66.00
Width (mm)
39.36
Diameter (mm)
50.00
Gap Width (mm)
4.76

chaotic 01

First of all, it has a really unique feel in the hand due to its almost-H-profile shape. It's really comfortable - and the weight of the yoyo is on the rims.

chaotic 02

The Chaotic is a really fast player. It has a long spinning time due to the Center Trac bearing that the yo-yo comes with. I mainly used it for frontstyle tricks, and played well. The response system is simply great: the Chaotic uses an 888 sized Central Bearing pad. Totally "unresponsiveness".

chaotic 03

The Chaotic has a smaller diameter than an FHZ, but it's wider than the Duncan model, so it has a different feel in the hand. All I can say, that YoyoFactory made it again (of course, Turning Point, too), the Chaotic rocks! I had to have a break in using plastics...

chaotic 05

The yo-yo comes in a nice YYF box, like all models of YYF. So: great packaging, great yoyo, great spin times... I think the Chaotic is a great choice.

Buzz-On Element X Remix

I decided to write yo-yo tests in the blog, so let's see what I got at home.

I bought this Element X in April, and due to my love of small bearings I chose the Remix series - there's the Element X Small with a small SPR (Aqua sized bearing), the Remix with a Duncan sized (5x10x4) and the Playa with a YoyoJAM sized (6x13x5) bearing.

The Element X comes without packaging, I got it only in a nylon bag with a short description and a Friction Sticker. It comes with an ABEC 7 bearing and I immediately cleaned it because it was soooooo responsive. At the first throw I noticed that the yo-yo is really heavy - oops, it's about 74 gramms due to the alumninum energy rings sticked into each sides of the yo-yo. The body of the Element X is made of ABS plastic.

The yo-yo uses a special response system, the Buzz-On SPR. It's a small recessed alumninum ring, and you just use it with pads and the bearing. It's a really good idea, because if you have a large SPR and a medium SPR, you can swap them in your yo-yos.

buzzon element x remix 02

First I tried the yo-yo with a Friction Sticker. It wasn't responsive, but got worn really soon, so I bought some Duncan Silicone Stickers, and tried it with one. That was a great choice, now the Element X plays well!

The yoyo has the same shape as the Duncan Freehand 1 and Freehand Zero, but plays really different, and you can feel the difference between materials of both yo-yos.

As you may know, Buzz-On Industries stopped producing yo-yos some years ago. These yoyos aren't around anymore, so you must check the forums or ask collectors about these yoyos. I feel sorry for this because Buzz-On made awesome plastic yo-yos.

Back again

So I arrived back home, and now everything's in order. Mallorca was great - so different from Hungary. The weather was hot, I woke up in the morning and it was about 28°C then! I got a bit brown, so it's easier to watch the string during yo-yoing...

I practiced a lot there, created some new ideas of yoyoing. So now I will focus on new tricks and hope I will be able to share something here, too.

New video

So finally I've finished editing my new video with the Saga V. My converter is not the best, and YouTube also ruins the quality - but it's still viewable.

The recordings were taken at my home. My bro, Szabolcs helped me a lot with the UV part.

2010. június 27., vasárnap

First.

Now I managed to make a blog.

I didn't have any time for this due to my exams at school. But now it's summer, so I'm ready to roll - hope I will have time for sharing stuff with yo-yo players (or anyone else) in the world.

To tell the truth I'm really glad that now it's June. I've made a some new tricks, watched a lot of videos that gave me inspiration. Yesterday I started recording tricks for my upcoming video with the Saga V. That's an awesome yoyo! I've been really into plastics for a while, I make modded Zeros for the local kids. I don't really like metal yoyos, but metal rimmed plastics are in my taste.

Photobucket

My Saga V was arrived in a pack from Mario. He created me some notebooks and sidecaps and I really like their design. Mario is a great guy who is really talented in arts and yoyoing. Thanks for him again for my stuff.

It's only 8.17 in the morning, so I have to make plans for my day. Probably I'll take some shots for the video. Yes, that would be cool...
