2012

Sorry, I've been so busy with school stuff and my band.

Another new year, new things come in our ways.

To tell the truth, I've really neglected yoyoing in the recent months. The reason is that I put more emphasis on my band, Diomede Fuzzdirt. We've recorded our first EP in December, check it out here.

Another thing is that, my last video was made in November, using the Vulto Glitch.

As soon as I finish this freakin' examination period I'll return the world of yoyoing.

So, happy new year everyone and stay with Lumpy Gravy!

Vulto GLITCH review

Vulto has been around for years and known for its great quality strings. They made the Saga and Saga V years before, but these models haven't been available for a while.

But now things changed and they released their new model, the Glitch yesterday.

Actually I got this raw prototype in spring from Mario.

The first thing I gotta mention that its weight is really unusual. The Glitch is heavier than most used yoyos, it must be around 70-72 grams. Firstly it can be weird but it's easy to get used to it.

The yoyo is much wider than a Freehand Zero. For me, it felt like a Hitman. Its shape is really comfortable, the edges are curved.

The FHZ has a larger diameter. The Glitch is way smaller, reminds me on the DV888.

The yo-yo uses a 6x13x5 bearing and silicone recess which can be removed or reloaded as the player wishes. Totally unresponsive. The yoyo plays great, it is able to do grinds, suicides and whips correctly. In other words, it is smooth as hell.

As I previously mentioned, this is a prototype. The final version looks like this:

Comes in a special kind of packaging: metal tins. Soooo oldschool! I really like the idea.

So all in all, apart from its name, the Glitch is the sexiest beast I've ever played. Totally smoothness. A masterpiece from Brazil. $86 is a really good price for it, go grab yours here.

YoyoFactory ONE review

Nowadays plastics come out really rarely and usually they are expensive due to the special materials and blablabla. It's not fair, a plastic yo-yo should have an affordable price, I don't care about the material!

As I checked the blogs and news in the world of yoyoing in April/May, I was glad to hear about YYF's affordable plastic yo-yo, called ONE.

During last weekend I managed to get one. Comes with a simple YoyoFactory box which contains a string and a 6x13x5 bearing (the stock yoyo comes with a simple bearing only for beginners). The yoyo was totally unresponsive, played great. My first problem was the weight - it was too light for me, 56 gramms is nothing. This yoyo is the best for beginners, complicated tricks can be harder to perform.

It is a bit wider than a Freehand Zero, but the diameter is almost the same. The ONE has a great shape, feels great in the hand.

The response system is the same as in all the other YYF yoyos: silicone pad recess.

To tell the truth, I didn't really enjoy 1A with the ONE. Everything was okay, but I didn't get anything plus experience. On the other hand, 5A was really cool with it, even cooler than any other yoyos. So yeah, my new 5A yoyo is gonna be the ONE!

All in all, the ONE is the perfect yoyo for beginners. 10 bucks really worth it. Also, if you need something fun for 1A or 5A, you should grab ONE!

Birthday!

Now that I've finished my second semester, I can handle the blog again. Lumpy Gravy is having its 1st birthday today! During this period a lot of videos were made and I'd like to continue this activity in the future, too. Many thanks to friends who helped me or took part in the recordings, especially to Miki Pardy and Daniel Budai.

My first year in Budapest was really cool. I met a lot of people, got experiences from everywhere and made some crappy tricks. Now I have a 2 month break with school things so I stay at home again and write tests or make videos here.

Stay tuned, the blog is gonna be alive again soon (I promise).
